Trick or Treat: 3 Healthy Halloween Treats
Halloween is here! Instead of filling yourself and your kids with candy and sugar, try these 3 tasty AND healthy treats! I promise it's not a trick!
Baked Apple Casserole: This is a very sweet and tasty apple dish that is great for dessert anytime! Since apples are in season, it will be extra delicious.
Ingredients:
4 Red Apples
1/3 cup Maple Syrup
1 tablespoon of Cinnamon
1/4 cup Olive Oil
Directions: Cut apples into bite sized pieces and place in a bowl. Pour maple syrup, olive oil, and cinnamon over the apples. Mix well and transfer to a baking dish. Cook at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
Sweet & Spicy Popcorn: This is a fun and different take on popcorn that the whole family will love. And the spice will offer a little surprise to us all!
Ingredients:
Fresh popped popcorn
1/4 cup Olive Oil
1/4 cup Maple Syrup
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Directions: In a large bowl combine popcorn, syrup, and oil. Mix well and sprinkle over cinnamon and pepper. Mix well and serve.
Crust-less Pumpkin Pie: If you love pumpkin pie but want to reduce the calories, try this tasty pumpkin dish.
Ingredients:
1 can of fresh pumpkin pulp (Like Libby's)
1 tablespoon of All Spice
1 Egg
1/3 cup of Maple Syrup
Directions: In a mixing bowl, combine pumpkin pulp and egg, and mix well with an electric beater. Add in all spice and syrup and mix well with the mixer. Transfer to a baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes until firm.
