Trying to Eat a Healthy Breakfast but Hate Eggs? Try These Healthy Breakfast Dishes!

Starting the day with a healthy protein, "good" fat filled breakfast is important for a healthy diet. We all should avoid having pastries, muffins, cereals, breads, and other sugar filled items in the morning. And starting the day with an egg dish, such as a veggie omelet is optimal. But what if you absolutely hate eggs? Try these healthy breakfast alternatives:

  1. Steel Cut Oatmeal with Berries: Although oatmeal is technically a "carb" it is very low in sugar and avoids the glucose spikes that pastries offer. In order to "dress up" the taste of oatmeal, top it with fresh blueberries and strawberries. Also make sure to get the "real" oatmeal as opposed to the instant packaged oatmeal that is filled with sugar additives.

  2. Whey Protein Shake: If eggs are off the table, using pure whey protein can also serve as a good protein substitute in the AM. Make sure to fill the shake with fruits low in sugar, and even throw in a veggie or two! For example, try mixing a green apple, spinach, ginger, almond milk and protein powder in a blender with some ice.

  3. Fresh Lox over Cucumber: Fresh salmon is a very healthy breakfast, as it is packed with lean protein, good fat and needed omegas. Try placing thinly sliced salmon on sliced cucumber. For added flavor top with capers and sour cream.
