3 Ways to Prevent a "Food Coma"

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and many of us will be partaking in over eating. So what can you do to prevent that sluggish feeling after over eating that makes us so uncomfortable? Try these 3 simple things to help your body digest that food.

  1. Go for a walk: Believe it or not, going for a walk a little while after eating can help our bodies deal with over eating. Walking will help circulate blood flow, burn through glucose (sugar), and start metabolizing fat. The longer you walk, the more energy you will burn, helping you to digest all the food you ate!

  2. Do some squats: Just like getting out for a walk, a little exercise, such as simple squats can help our bodies burn sugar quickly and allow our bodies to better digest other nutrients. Try doing a few minutes of squats. Rest for a few minutes. Then, complete another set. Try three rounds of this for up to 15 minutes.

  3. Drink ginger tea: Ginger can help with digestion and bloat after over eating. Ginger also has an anti-inflammatory effect on our bodies. So, it can help calm down an overworked system. Drinking ginger in a liquid form, such as a tea, is also easier on the digestive system.
